- How do you evaluate UK salary to equivalent NZ salary? - colfreeland - 2007-01-09 11:48:45

I've been trying to generate an expected -equivalent NZ salary from that in UK...Will try and explain further; assume jobs are the same (like for like);
UK Salary £30k, with benefits of Life Assurance, Health Care, Non-Contributary Pension (say 6% of gross) what would be the expected equivalent salary in NZ?
Taking into account Cost of Living (which appears much the same as in UK) and Taxation.
Hope this make sense to someone!! The figures are fiction, but the principle remains. I have been offered a job in NZ, but finding it difficult to evaluate offer against current earnings etc.
Any advice/experience would be greatly apprecaited, Thanks

In reality not many NZ employers will offer the range of add ons you have in the UK - its just not done that way here!
You should accept that if you do a straight conversion of NZ$s to sterling it will not look good but in general terms your standrad of living here, based on NZ wages, will roughly be on a par with the UK.
Naturally for a more detailed reply I would need more detail so feel free to touch base with me on mike@britsnz.com and have a look at www.britsnz.co.nz.
Good luck and I hope to hear from you.
