There are many things that Kiwis do differently to other parts of
the world. For example we generally don’t provide a tip in restaurants,
unlike Europe where tipping is very common. We drive on the left,
and give way to the right. The drinking age is 18, and the driving
age is 15 and oddly enough the gambling age is 20!
No matter what the differences, everyone seems to navigate these pretty
quickly, as New Zealander’s are quick to lend a hand. To make
it all a little easier, we have provided some basic information regarding
some of the most fundamental aspects of settling in New Zealand.
While a lot of the finer parts of Kiwi life you might not understand
until you have lived here for a while, it never hurts to get a head
start. Spend some time with the locals, take a look around your town
or city, and investigate various websites. When you start doing the
investigation, not only do you make friends but you can learn so much
which help make the adjustment to New Zealand life a lot easier. Remember
our forum is an excellent place to visit to speak to Kiwi’s
on their way home, or migrants who are here and settled already.
